Dryad

Dryad

August 19, 2014

Medium: Ceramics and Gathered Materials        Completed: October 2013          Size: 14 ¼” x 8 ¾” x 8”

Purpose: To display the mythological Dryad in her natural setting—at peaceful rest within her tree of choice. She has been windblown, branches broken off by the elements, but still she slumbers on until her tree is in truly mortal danger. This was my first foray into sculpting a more human body, and I have learned more about what is needed to feel realistic which I hope to incorporate into further work down the road as I design more characters.
